Many mining projects have failed due to poor field sample selection or an inadequate sampling plan.
The difficulty lies in obtaining reasonable size samples, representative of a deposit or heaps of several thousand (or millions) tons. Improper sampling can lead to major errors in estimating the reserves of a deposit, defining a process or sizing equipment.
CIME experts know the rules to be followed when reducing the size and dividing the samples, using Gy's laws to optimise these different steps and assess errors.
CIME acts at the customer's site to define, monitor or carry out the sampling operations. Then, in a second step, the sampling plan is established and crushing and screening operations can be carried out either on site or at CIME depending on the tonnages to be processed.

Sampling is an essential step in correctly estimating the reserves of a deposit or in conducting representative tests to define an ore treatment process.
